Priest River Hike

While Justin visited home in July we went on a overnight hike along the Priest River in northern Idaho. It was during a heat wave so we were hiking in 100+ temp. but the heavy forest shade help immensely. We hiked in about 6 miles, then looked for campsite along the river for another mile or so, but ended up at the spot we had stopped on a small sand bar.

The sand bar turned out to be infested with billions of sand fleas who feasted upon Richard, but ignored Justin... what the heck is up with that! This was the first week of July and we saw the after affects of the June 29 wind storm that what cause huge trees to tumble to the ground (we were out of electricity for many hours at the house that night).

Anyway, I asked Justin to carry some supplies in his backpack and he said, 'Sure!" He opened his backpack and what do I see, ten lbs of weights seating in it! His only comment was, he needed more weight so it would be more like the backpacks he carries in the army. Crazy!
